Runway at Indy Exec Reopens at 5,500′

The runway at Indianapolis Executive Airport (TYQ) has reopened after a temporary closure as part of the Runway Extension Project. Upon reopening, it has now returned to its original length of 5,500 feet with all approaches available.

About the Runway Extension Project

Earlier this year, the FAA awarded the Indianapolis Executive Airport a $2.8 million grant for a 1,500-foot runway extension. The runway extension will increase the runway length from 5,500 feet to 7,000 feet, allowing more takeoff and landing space for aircraft that utilize the airport’s facilities. The FAA awarded the grant a year ahead of schedule. Construction began this summer and is expected to continue throughout 2021. There will be some construction work that continues after today, but there will be no effect to the runway or its approaches until further notice.
