Record Attendance at the 14th Annual Open House & Fly-in

First Wing Jet Center and the Commemorative Air Force – Indiana Wing hosted the 14th Annual Open House and Fly-in with Wings Over Indy on Saturday, June 19. This year’s event drew record crowds, estimated to be approximately 6,000 attendees.

First Wing Jet Center and the Commemorative Air Force developed a partnership that combines the well-known Wings Over Indy aviation event with the annual open house and fly-in. Saturday’s event featured a spectacular airshow unlike any in Indiana history. Aerobatic performers Bob Richards, Tico LaCerda and JP Mellor wowed the crowds with daring aerial stunts over Zionsville throughout the day. The Redstar Pilots, Indy Biplanes and CAF Warbirds performed formation flyovers, including a “Missing Man” formation in honor lives recently lost.

In addition to the airshow, the event featured airplane rides, a helicopter candy drop, numerous aircraft on static display, Kids Zone with bounce houses, local fire and police interactive exhibits, food trucks, kids performances and more.

An Aerospace Educational Complex featured airplanes and displays from Indiana State University, Indianapolis Aero Club, AOPA, LIFT Academy, EAA Young Eagles, Indiana Tech, Tuskegee Airmen, Civil Air Patrol and more.

The mission of the 14th Annual Open House and Fly-in is to introduce the community to the excitement and wonder of aviation, while raising funds for Down Syndrome Indiana, an organization that is making a difference in the lives of families in central Indiana. This year, the annual open house raised more than $23,000 for DSI. Since 2006, First Wing Jet Center has raised more than $225,000 for DSI. DSI uses these funds for programs to help individuals with Down Syndrome achieve independence and inclusion in their community.

Save the date! The 15th Annual Open House and Fly-in with Wings Over Indy will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022!
